If you suddenly have problems using WinTV or Hauppauge Capture, you need to follow these steps: However, this is not a problem or a bug with this new release, it's actually a change that Microsoft is implementing with version 1803 to give users more control over their privacy.

On the Windows 10 April 2018 Update, users are finding out that many apps no longer have access to cameras, TV tuners and video recorders.

How to fix TV tuner and video recorder access problems after installing Windows Update This is a known "feature" of the new release of Windows 10, related to video cameras but also affecting TV tuners and video recorders. This is from the hauppauge support page:Īre you getting error messages 'TV Tuner not available' or getting a message 'Unable to locate capture filter' after installing a Windows 10 update? The issue was caused by Windows 10's recent update (this is twice now that Win10 has broken software I've been using!).

Sorry for the cross posting, but this may help others: The capture software does not play audio at all (HDMI out monitoring is playing 5.1 audio fine).Īlso, whats the IR blaster supplied is used for? How do I start recording without using the PC, assuming the capture software is running? (check with the above checked, or checked but greyed out if above unchecked) Use multiple audio tracks for recordings Checked (also tried unchecked)Ĭapture original AC3 track for multiple. Can someone please give me the exact settings to get 5.1 recording? I've unchecked the disable AC3, then tried many settings in audio decoder and encoder settings. The HDMI out of the HD PVR is connected to my receiver and outputs DD 5.1, so everything is connected and working fine from hardware side. The Apple TV HDMI output setting is decoding the audio from the installed IPTV and converting it to DD 5.1 (old DD not DD+). No matter what I try, I can either record w/o audio or record only 2.0. My playback device is Apple TV 4th gen passing through HDMI splitter that does it's magic.

Installed the latest drivers and capture software. It been discussed on the tivocommunity forums by the fios people ad nasuem. I think FIOS does't protect content for pay channels like a Comcast does. It would be for those shows I have no interest in keeping. In the old days I used a vcr to tivo setup in a similar manner. I'm not processing / saving the episodes - just view and delete. Then upload that to the tivo where I can skip thru the commercials (FF/skip). I also use the Collossus 2 to record streaming content that has commercials like a hulu series in one big block of episodes.

and can't be d/l from the tivo to pc using pyTivo desktop or kmttg. I use a tivo with my Collossus 2 to offload content that is protected by the cable co. Most tivo enthusiasts I would venture to guess edit out the commercial w/ VideoRedo which would leave you with a program that you then would watch via whatever device you use for viewing. Playback -no not for skipping thru commercials on a pc. In order to use the HD PVR 2 as a DVR, does anyone have any suggestions regarding software for playback, settings.? I intend to have the laptop by the TV and the PC laptop is a lot more affordable than a Mac laptop anyway. The HD PVR 2 and VideoReDo work on PC's and I'd need a Windows emulator program to run VideoReDo on a Mac. Compared to a TIVO which has monthly fees or a one time(Lifetime) fee that's large, I guess this isn't so bad. I suppose one downfall is I'll need to go to the laptop to fast forward through commercial breaks for recorded shows not edited yet. I'd like to use the HD PVR 2 as a DVR hooked up to a laptop. I was thinking of getting a TIVO and VideoRedo software to edit programs but I've been reading a lot of good things about the Hauppauge HD PVR 2.

This is an old system and I'll be getting an LED HDTV soon. I can then edit and burn them to DVD-R's.

I currently have an old RCA tube TV and use a Panasonic DVD recorder with a built in hard drive for recording programs off of FIOS.
